One of the eastern health techniques which "settled" in Russia not so long ago is a Japanese bath. The bath may well be attributed to SPA procedures because SPA by definition is a "recovery with the help of water." A Japanese man perceives a bath not just a place where you can wash away the dirt from the skin, the bath for him is a whole ritual process.
The Japanese wash simply in a basin with a washcloth and take a steam bath for pleasure. Geisha, a bathhouse attendant, will help you to wash, so as you can see, she is not a prostitute as many people think.
After washing you go into the barrel with the cool water, then geisha will massage your neck and back (of course if you wish). Next the warm water is added so that the one who is taking the bath get used to changes in temperature. And then, after that, one can already get into the barrel with the water temperature of 50 degrees.
And finally the last stage is “sawdust bath”. This bath is called so because the water in the barrel is filled with shavings of cedar wood and various herbs. Steam goes towards your body from the bottom and you sweat. Pores in the skin open up opening the way for aromatics while your body is getting rid of residue and accumulated toxins.
